[00:00:02] Still never had the sacred stone
[00:00:05] Oh, this new crazy mother
[00:00:18] All right, what's going on Todd?
[00:00:20] What's your treat to this Saturday morning?
[00:00:22] We're back. We're back. We're back. We're back. And it feels good. It feels great.
[00:00:29] I've been I've been I've abstained for a while, but you know the holiday season as promised
[00:00:36] As for his gaming wise, I've been back on 2K 24 and I caught Andrew on one of those
[00:00:42] Ratchet streams I had going on and he definitely made sure to say hey, you know what's going on with the pie cast.
[00:00:49] You know, and it's just a great to be here because that's what I was saying.
[00:00:53] And we always would normally do like a game of the year or game awards review at the end of the year from whatever we played
[00:01:00] and we're able to do it. So we are. We are.
[00:01:05] We are. We're going to talk about the pay over how are you feeling good, sir?
[00:01:09] I'm feeling pretty good today.
[00:01:11] Now stars. It's a play at 1 o'clock. We got an afternoon game against Tampa Bay.
[00:01:17] Tampa Bay. Who knows about them there. They're silly here all silly.
[00:01:22] Hockey teams are silly names. I mean the Dallas stars like don't get me wrong.
[00:01:28] I was like you're the stars of Texas. I get it. It's the big and bright shine at night. Whatever that's all.
[00:01:35] Deep in the heart, you know that's.
[00:01:37] But it's like the Minnesota wild. Like that's kind of a weird name.
[00:01:41] Tampa Bay lightning like it's all earth elements and then you got the Vegas gold nights.
[00:01:46] I haven't existed for a long time. I don't understand what you're.
[00:01:51] Man, I'm just crazy parties. I'm about to think about that.
[00:01:54] I don't know if the Luminati or whatever tried to interrupt the hockey conversation but half of your shit glitched out on me, man.
[00:02:00] That's crazy. But I mean look. I ain't going to lie. You look. I like that jersey for real.
[00:02:05] They remind me of like Miss cool and like 95 with the jerseys and stuff when used to wear the HBC.
[00:02:09] I would wear that shit myself.
[00:02:11] Yeah, that's it. Hey, that's your clean. That's your clean.
[00:02:16] I'm in. I did just a random shout out again to Andrew man real quick on the trial.
[00:02:21] You know what I'm saying? It's T. Triple G. We back. We you know what I'm saying?
[00:02:25] He's talking about coming to Dallas speaking of Dallas and having a brew.
[00:02:28] You know, I was like, I don't know maybe, maybe.
[00:02:32] And you know, definitely a shout out to Kate punishment as well.
[00:02:35] Effect. Let me get deep boys associated with the streamery.
[00:02:39] Actually, I'm going to drop that a was up there. Of course, there of course.
[00:02:44] I'm saying like I have a real like got to keep it real out the gate.
[00:02:48] Told you to kept the kept the word my boy. That's it right there.
[00:02:52] You know what I'm doing this morning. Man. How are you doing this morning?
[00:02:56] What's going on man?
[00:03:00] Now, but he was giving me some of some opinions on the game awards and this year has been.
[00:03:05] There's been some news of some weirdness of it. I think the game awards have over the years and a lot of ways faded and relevance as much as the state relevant, you know.
[00:03:17] I just and maybe it's just the old man and me the old the old fartery, you know, but like I just remember the nostalgia of how much fun the game awards used to be.
[00:03:28] It didn't seem like so much paid only concern. It seemed a little bit.
[00:03:33] Well, but I was going to say it's like in a modern like 2023.
[00:03:38] The question I have just doesn't like lobbied at the game awards or whatever it goes.
[00:03:43] But it's like our award shows done in 2023. Do we need them anymore?
[00:03:48] With the worst miss not you know what I'm saying from ball hit J.
[00:03:52] You all you know what I'm saying or like she or the weird always hopping up on stage that actually makes the game awards fun.
[00:04:00] Remember that year they do came up on stage we were a GBA six.
[00:04:05] It was like some you know only thing that probably would have made it better would be like a you know,
[00:04:11] something or worse. Sorry. It's America. That's the wrong thing. I forgot we don't live not warming up on Patreon.
[00:04:17] But I'm just saying like these events aren't even safe anymore and you know they're still born.
[00:04:24] Well, I mean no you're not wrong. I mean if but is it is it is it necessary anymore like is it is it something we need.
[00:04:33] Okay so game awards movie awards G4 channel television MTV music video awards MTV Awards used to watch these things not only because they're entertaining
[00:04:44] but remember what the big deal about the game awards was there's no drop trailers come drop trailers.
[00:04:49] Yeah, let's go they're going to drop trailers and then YouTube came along.
[00:04:54] And now they just dropping trailers on the daily basis right and I mean a lot of the showcases Sony has its own showcase you know
[00:05:01] Nintendo doing its own thing for years Xbox does this on thing.
[00:05:06] You know it's it's kind of insane but I mean did you want to just go ahead and so we can let it breathe and get into some other shit
[00:05:14] and just catch up and talk but as far as the actual list of the game the year I mean the the game a year awards are on December 7th right.
[00:05:23] They are corner. I think it's starting Eastern Standard time around 7 30 on that Thursday so it was a Thursday you know last year I think it ran like three hours
[00:05:32] I'm not sure I really didn't I didn't watch it I wasn't interested I think this year people are going to an more simply because they anticipate the trailer GTA 6 coming out.
[00:05:41] I think that's where everybody going to do a thing and you know get jiggy with it.
[00:05:47] No, no, no, no, no, no, but yeah right did you want to get into this years kind of per se controversial list.
[00:05:57] Yeah, it's it's it's a little bit controversial I would say it's not just a little bit controversial it's it's cost a mission okay so this is going to happen right.
[00:06:07] This is going to happen your favorite game wasn't nominated don't give me wrong a little pissed off about some of the nominations by so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
[00:06:15] Now I think the we'll save the biggest controversy for last and where some people view that reason that game didn't get nominated.
[00:06:25] Let's go over the list real quick. Okay, I'll awake too right does it belong doesn't not belong I can't say I've been played it I've looked at it the videos look good it looks like a gorgeous game.
[00:06:36] From everything I've heard it's a wonderful game like just absolutely a great sequel to whatever it is.
[00:06:45] You know it's one of those things where it's it's graphically speaking this is what the next generation should look like right like with the monsters and I'm going to put a little video up here of some of this Alan way to gameplay.
[00:06:59] And why I want to play it. It just looks insane like I got a brand new gaming laptop ready to go brand new card I'm ready to try to give this thing a shot.
[00:07:13] It's kind of hard to believe that in 2023 that with all the glitches and kind of weird launch day problems that we have with a lot of other games that Alan way comes out and just looks basically like you're playing through our movie crazy.
[00:07:28] It's just nuts dude it's absolutely nuts. I can't wait to play it looks fun from all I've heard it definitely deserves at least the look for game of the year from from what I've heard at least I don't know Todd have you have you heard much about out on way to a played with it or looked at any other videos besides you know just the trailers and stuff like that.
[00:07:49] I mean one of the heftiest compliments to any game is one of the major factors as far as just the graphics alone and when I heard it was because I it was Alan way games for years.
[00:07:59] It's narrative based games I thought food when I was managing a game stop or whatever the original one I wasn't interested but when so I didn't really even pay attention to the trailers of the gameplay.
[00:08:10] But when I heard from like a trusted person like hey man this is probably the best looking game I've ever seen.
[00:08:15] And I'm coming off of like an experience even some simple like fan liberty the upgrade with the 2.0 how amazing that look with how they fixed it on next gen for somebody to say okay Alan way to is the best looking game when I went back and looked at trailer and I mean you played it I was like damn that is I mean how much more realistic can you get so for that alone and for people that enjoy narrative based games from what I hear I mean you really have to put it on the game.
[00:08:40] Pay attention to it is not a pie KS game is not something you could put on and you know zone out.
[00:08:48] I guess I could understand the nomination again I didn't play it though so you know with the writers and everything some of this stuff it might be weirdo behavior but you know it looks good enough based on graphics that's the main thing for me.
[00:09:00] Me too me too I'm looking at it going and from everything I heard it definitely deserves it the next one up is my personal favorite game of year.
[00:09:08] I think we've talked about this quite a bit you got into this me and taught me and Bob and playing this we're actually trying to go back to this one and that is the great Larry and studios masterpiece Baldur's gay 3.
[00:09:21] Baldur what can you say about Baldur's gay 3 that has an already been said.
[00:09:26] I mean you have not only one of the best RPGs I've ever played with some of the best mechanics I've ever played.
[00:09:33] But it also feels like a modern day video Dungeons and Dragons game is really kind of what it comes out to like this is the close it closest experience I've ever had to actually playing Dungeons and Dragons in a PC format without it being kind of weird and janky it's got the dice rolls it's got the character building you can do almost anything you want in the game which I'm sure.
[00:09:55] I think it's so cool Todd I've talked enough about Baldur's gait this three three this year I'm going to let you go off of it because I wasn't new to Baldur's gate but you were and I kind of like your perspective on it myself.
[00:10:08] Absolutely and you know I love to I love Baldur's gate three man which is amazingly surprising and just real quick I got a shout out in one more time because he's saying no PC power you can have any power issues but me and the wife are going to start Baldur's gate three.
[00:10:24] That is the best thing for you to do and that's something that I love about Baldur's gate three the fact that it's couch co-op split screen and or like even when my significant others away I can play with her character you know I'm talking about peaches none of me and it's she still souped up and it's fun but all the way going back to a conversation that me and you had about the movie Dungeons and Dragons and you suggested it to me and me being like hey man you know that's something I wanted to get interested into but it's never anything I can't believe it's not just me.
[00:10:54] I could have you know just found the angle where it was easy entry for somebody that's new to it you know I played original Divinity Sin 2 or whatever the fuck on my original all men and it was almost there but Baldur's gate three what he did is it perfected it like I got about 74 hours on my playthrough my significant other guy the personal like I think she probably like 54 or 60 hours she almost at the end.
[00:11:18] And I'm personally I don't even know I'm nowhere near finishing I had a whole side quest just to go to the gym for which was one of my most you know that that was the most fun experience I've had in the game probably ever just personally for me and it's just a little side quest is not a big deal somebody else might not like it but for a turn based game that's what we always talked about you've been trying to get me in a turn based game games for years literally.
[00:11:44] You can use me every turn based game possible the closest I ever got was with final fantasy seven remake love that game but it wasn't pure turn based you know what I mean so it didn't quite give me that same it's just like a pure action RPG or something else that I normally would enjoy Baldur's gate three is a fucking masterpiece period.
[00:12:05] Period point blank period simply off the fact that it just the it's a complete antithesis is something that I would generally enjoy and I would have felt like I wasted money on and it was just narrative driven you know the weird shit about fucking bears I don't care about you know what I mean but I mean the digital titties actually work well in my playthrough so far with menthar and stuff like that it doesn't like overwhelm it and it's just all though the action it's not something like a cyberpunk.
[00:12:35] Phantom Liberty where it's going to be right on point that's great for a stream when you actually play at especially couch co-op is some it's one of the and it's one of the best games we're gonna see in the next 20 years of my opinion that's how I feel about I could go on and I still haven't finished it though.
[00:12:51] We neither you know I'm seeing that I checked it the other day and I was like me and Bob been playing it 58 hours we're not even an act three yet that's what I'm telling you and that's the but to you like is that kind of a bit of for old school feeling gaming
[00:13:05] yes yes it feels like an old school game to me but it takes these elements and it really what the thing that I liked most about Baldur's Gate 3 was in a world of multiplayer of Fortnite's Call of Duty's etc they said hey we're asking you to sit around the
[00:13:25] the table on a Saturday night play some old school D&D with us and they didn't expect a lot of people to engage with it the way that it got the way that it was the number one played on game on steam concurrently for months after it released for two or three months it was just the number one concurrently
[00:13:45] play game on steam it was one of the most watch games on twitch because people were urging for that true co-op experience that felt like a true adventure it felt like what people wanted from Elden ring was give us better co up it feels like what people wanted
[00:14:02] from dragons dogma which I've been revisiting I love dragons dogma it's one of those great games but the fact that it didn't have co up and by the way the sequel was announced for February of 2024 and guess what they didn't add to the sequel co up again so it's it's one of those things where people are urging to connect with each other in a very positive way not a competitive way because when you think about Fortnite when you think of legal legends when you think of Call of Duty you think of those
[00:14:31] toxic chat rooms and those toxic voice you know it's what this is just that perfect point because what I did want to give a specific salute to Larry and studios on which I appreciate as a older elder is them coming out releasing a hard copy and focusing on like a full hard copy game not just a digital download nothing you know for people that still want to be able to go to brick and mortar places and buy games
[00:15:01] that's a full game at a full price that you don't have to worry about extra DLC that they're working on and it's actually giving you hours and hours like it can take you a year to finish the game and you don't feel played that type of thing is priceless you know what I mean it's very rare in this industry because it coincides with their toxic kind of community that is on the flip side that's more digitally based like I get it which we can maybe touch on on another conversation or whatever you know
[00:15:28] because I be on some psychedelic system time just as far as in the gaming industry is it even getting too expensive just on a capitalism basis for people to just be priced out tier wise where it's not necessarily a choice like a kid just can't enjoy a 2k 24 call of duty fucking bundle pack just because they're priced out whereas you know because the industry is getting older but that's another conversation for another time but that's just a special salute to Larry and studios for that alone you know what I mean in my humble opinion I could go on about that.
[00:15:57] I mean that's my personal game in the year so we'll see I think it would be a pay all the situation if they don't win but I mean who knows what could happen with this list.
[00:16:06] Wait is my personal favorite game of the year and part of the reason to is like you were identifying Larry and studios comes out and makes something for the people it feels very much like it's for the people it's it's a game for people to connect over and have fun over and just enjoy and ride with the dialogue
[00:16:26] and you can kind of say whatever you want to somebody and you can block quest off if that's where it feels old school you can literally lock quest off without even knowing that you did it.
[00:16:36] And like new school with like all year and world with sex whatever got going on I guess that's the new thing you know me all the world with sex is cool now I'm not doing against it I don't care you know what you do talk to cats and shit.
[00:16:49] It's cool to what you do right if they baby T-flings if you like I mean he can if you want to me and Bob were talking about making another run on it and making a making an asshole run where we go through and just kill everybody.
[00:17:05] Yeah that's the way to go that's the way to go now we'll say it is one more game that on this list that I personally could argue and a whole for a whole different reason could be game of the year
[00:17:15] and that I you know I just I just couldn't give to with no man that I was it's it's a great game to me though sometimes it's a hard decision for sure that's what she said.
[00:17:29] Moving on to something that was actually knocked out of the conversation because of Baldur's Gate 3 kind of just disappeared from public persona all together I mean before BG3 was released this game to me
[00:17:44] was the one that was being talked about the most it's all on tick-tock all the time etc and that's legend is elder peers of the kingdom.
[00:17:52] I can't speak to this one.
[00:17:54] Todd I haven't played it I'm a huge Zelda fan I'll be real honest what kind of turn me off on this one
[00:18:01] and I love the first one the first one was my game of the year when we actually started this show right this place started this show
[00:18:09] that's crazy breath of the wild was my game of the year correct the thing that turned me off of this game was the additional element of construction
[00:18:20] and that kind of minecrafty power block element which I look that's not for me I've tried those games played minecraft for a while it was fun for what it was
[00:18:31] sometimes it's relaxing I like some city builder games like I really like the new steam world build or whatever it's called I just started on Xbox last night
[00:18:43] steam world city it's part of that steam world trilogy where you actually get to build your own city and I think it's really cool and unique
[00:18:49] I like the one with the kingdoms
[00:18:53] where we've talked about it before I can't remember that I played the third yeah I like to say man like you know my man I'm just a keep your room I switch
[00:19:04] somehow my old lady lost the battery for my switch so it's just collecting dust anyway so yeah I mean and I wasn't really I wasn't really tripping about Zelda this time too
[00:19:14] like the first game I had a lot of fun I want to say I had fun with it but I had no reason to get this game so I have you know no real opinion about it
[00:19:24] from what I could see this is my thought pattern on that to be honest with you though like it's hard for me to even visually compare
[00:19:31] I I'm awake to to Zelda and that's kind of where I'm at with it you know is that a fair comparison no the Zelda kind of introduce mechanics into
[00:19:40] like the broader scale of gaming that I can see where to fix the gaming culture period like when the first of the came out and they were just happy with the grass
[00:19:50] effects that they were able to pull off and I started seeing it like how you could cut in other games like I get that aspect but this year for this year's list
[00:19:57] I don't it really would matter if this was on the list at all I feel like I have it's me games that I have in play you know what I mean like
[00:20:07] that I feel about tears of game no disrespect no no disrespect at all and it is one of those things where it's like whoever I've talked to or
[00:20:17] it's funny that they always lead off with what's amazing well what's amazing about it well it was amazing that they were able to put this on the switch and have it run
[00:20:26] like that's that's like kind of the argument to me where it's like like you know I haven't played it I have no disrespect for it but
[00:20:35] you know I watched enough videos I kind of understand with it with the concepts were behind it
[00:20:39] but at the same time like Nintendo games don't go on so mean you talk about this
[00:20:43] me my wife on that Costco cancel Netflix budget like I'm gonna go spend $59.99 on a game the
[00:20:50] on for a system I don't use that often anymore right I would have told you to buy fan of liberty I keep references it
[00:20:56] yeah referencing it like I would rather had that DC DLC in the in this list of games the game of the year just the way
[00:21:03] that but that's a personal humble opinion period some people could hate it um but yeah man I'm I don't I don't
[00:21:10] have much on Zelda that's where I'm at with that and that's part of what the issue is I think this year
[00:21:14] with the game awards like hey some games are just gonna get paid didn't they're apparently just because
[00:21:20] they gonna get paid didn't there you know I've been here on weird rumors we want to get too much in depth
[00:21:23] in it but yeah uh now what I do want to hear about it because I did not know that you had speaking
[00:21:30] of switch games and the one game that I do wish I did have the charger for is Super Mario Bros. Wonder
[00:21:37] which everybody seeing is like a surprise of the year I thought will be weird with the elephant dues
[00:21:42] but I love the movie you know peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches
[00:21:48] what's your opinion on Super Mario Bros. Wonder so this is this is me living by
[00:21:53] carelessly through my wife so I actually bought this game for my wife because she it was it literally
[00:21:59] came out the week before her birthday she loves the Super Mario games she absolutely does she loves
[00:22:06] platformers the kind of colorful games like we got her a she's got like a little the the aces
[00:22:14] handheld PC thing and she's been playing like super lucky tail on there and stuff like that and she
[00:22:20] loves those kind of games like it was really cool um but the Super Mario Wonder I was watching
[00:22:27] her playing I played some of it too the controls it feels like old school Mario that's what I love
[00:22:32] about it feels like old school Mario it's it's a 2D scrolling old school Mario with some really
[00:22:38] interesting elements to it is it better than Odyssey no it's not Odyssey was just incredible it was
[00:22:44] that was a whole new level for Mario to me but it's Super Mario Wonder like that kind of old school
[00:22:50] throwback nostalgia vibe that I feel like 2023 is kind of bred these year is with the nostalgia stuff
[00:22:59] I mean for crying out loud dude nostalgia's everywhere now that they they had 23 just here it has
[00:23:03] been a great fucking year for gaming let's get that same narrative going because that's the truth
[00:23:09] but yeah that's just the true yeah but like I was gonna say they got
[00:23:13] adult happy meals coming to McDonald's now so like the nostalgia vibes everywhere right
[00:23:18] like let's be real let's be right um but they got them big nugget buddies remember the
[00:23:22] big nugget buddies that's what they're coming out with with the toys I was like that's dope
[00:23:25] ridiculous it's ridiculous I'm gonna go buy it because they want $12.99 for a megrub
[00:23:31] like right right and it caused the colon cancer I gotta keep that and she did type of shit in mine
[00:23:36] I'm an oldie you know what I mean some some kid you know I'm saying just told me that on 2K24 I had
[00:23:41] the rage quit and tell them they he sounded like somebody that need a bar and you take self help motherfucking
[00:23:47] video of course of some sort man so you know uh Brett with that said like with the I understand
[00:23:53] your point of like nostalgia like so yeah maybe that's something that's been missing too and
[00:23:59] that's the other side of it you know what I mean that's that's the beauty of what Nintendo does
[00:24:05] that definitely is a game that I would at some point like to play uh I just I hate that my
[00:24:11] my my actual system has been dusty man that's the one thing I gotta pull it out real
[00:24:17] now I actually did pull it out over Thanksgiving I'll tell you that I brought it with me and I did
[00:24:22] play it over Thanksgiving but I did what I always do which was load up monster hunter like that's
[00:24:27] what switch is kind of generations ultimate and monster intergenerations ultimate that's kind
[00:24:32] of what my switch is dedicated to all the time now yeah it really is right now one more though you
[00:24:39] you can speak specificity to this with your thoughts about this resident evil 4 being on this list
[00:24:44] I don't like it like how is it possible I just that's what I'm thinking I didn't play okay
[00:24:50] first let me take myself out of this conversation a little bit I didn't play it because I'm
[00:24:54] no interest in playing like resident evil 4 again I've played resident evil 4 on game q I've
[00:25:00] played resident evil 4 on PC I've played resident evil 4 on PlayStation like I don't want I played
[00:25:07] resident evil 4 on the Wii right I don't need to play resident evil 4 again we get it you you
[00:25:14] completely reshape the action third person action shooter genre completely you're the reason we
[00:25:21] had games like uncharted you're the reason that we had a complete push to a new style of action genre
[00:25:30] games I understand the cut scenes were incredible the the the quick time event scenes were incredible
[00:25:38] I love resident evil 4 I don't need to play resident evil 4 again I would rather play sky
[00:25:44] rim again in fact I did a little bit over the things given all of day because skyrims when
[00:25:50] those games that I'm like yeah I can come back to skyrim resident evil 4 I don't need you again
[00:25:55] like what was more interesting to me was when they did the resident evil 2 remake because that
[00:26:01] was a game that was with those clunky controls playstation 1 error you're bringing it to the
[00:26:06] modern generation but resident evil 4 has been released I even played resident evil 4 on the switch
[00:26:12] right right I don't I'll be playing you like you love the resident evil games man you run through
[00:26:17] them several times so that's why I mean I trust your expert opinion on it and that's what I'm saying
[00:26:22] you might as well put fandom liberty from cyberpunk on there if you go put resident evil 4 I don't
[00:26:28] even I cannot wrap my head around that thing at all like a smidge and why and you just broke down
[00:26:33] the most important point it's all it's I mean how old is that you know Sam like nah so you know
[00:26:41] no hate on the resident evil franchise at all but it's just insane when you have games like we'll
[00:26:48] talk about a little bit later after we get through the list they got snubbed and I mean if you're
[00:26:52] gonna put this on there you might as well you might as well at least add just add different nomination
[00:26:56] form so it at least be fun so you can at least get the studios out there and have that fan base you
[00:27:03] know have something to watch the show for when you put a resident evil 4 out there games that people
[00:27:09] haven't even been playing I think it makes it more difficult to gather a following again though this
[00:27:14] year I think they don't give a damn cuz GTA 6 is coming out and I think they got a show trailer if
[00:27:18] they don't show a trailer you might Jeff Keely I don't know what you're doing my dog like I don't
[00:27:22] even know what's going on no more it's pay older like DJ envy at that point you know what I mean so
[00:27:27] yeah there's some people that would argue that resident evil 4 deserves a spot because it's
[00:27:32] a up from the ground remake and all that I don't think so personally like this is this for me is
[00:27:39] the same problem with movies that they just like the movie theaters it's like okay we either get Marvel
[00:27:45] movies or we get like sequels that are like 30 years after the original you know it's the idea of
[00:27:54] your it's almost like the award season is almost betting on what's gonna put butts in the seats
[00:28:00] as far as what's gonna put viewers on the screen is they're gonna be a group of people that do
[00:28:05] think resident evil 4 deserves it personally I would rather see original IPs and I guess
[00:28:10] I guess their original IP give this year was what Baldur's Gate 3 that was kind of even that's
[00:28:17] technically a sequel that's that's now it's a sequel to a 20 something year old game but it's still
[00:28:23] technically a sequel you know what I mean like it's resonating we talked about this man it's been
[00:28:28] a great year for gaming man like Star Wars Jedi Survivors one of my favorite games of the year
[00:28:33] we don't see that like but we you know we can that that's the also weird part about it but I will
[00:28:39] say this to to move on from resident evil real quick the game that I personally could have his
[00:28:46] game of the year outside of Baldur's Gate 3 by far the most fun game I'm man this year we're
[00:28:53] one of the most fun is Marvel Spider-Man that's what I want to hear about
[00:29:00] more Spider-Man 2 yes just plain and simple it's just a fun damn game like all other bulls you
[00:29:08] decide same thing I loved about the first game I loved about the second one now is it as
[00:29:16] like mind blowing and world breaking and game changing and is the world in the same place and
[00:29:25] you know was it everything I could have ever wished for in any game of all time I mean that's
[00:29:30] impossible but for me to just lie inside it had fun with the game and I did enjoy the repetitive
[00:29:36] loop very rare I've ever even given a damn about 100 presenting a game the storyline was good
[00:29:43] enough to me you know and I think it's amazing that it made it on the list in comparison to some
[00:29:49] games that might have got snow for just the political discourse let's say that it calls with the
[00:29:55] concerns or you know who knows shit like that just focused on the wrong thing you know what I'm saying
[00:30:03] is it's a Spider-Man video game you know just because Miles Morales isn't it which I thought was
[00:30:08] cool like I think the gameplay that kind of GTA switching back and forth between Miles Morales
[00:30:14] and Peter Parker was dope if I could give the game a criticism at all it goes back to what
[00:30:19] Barbus Gate did and it was a situation where it would have been dope if they made it co-op where you
[00:30:24] could slide in and one person plays you know Peter Parker in another person play as Miles Morales
[00:30:30] but as far as the gameplay the way it opens up the universe for all those out there that are
[00:30:40] comic book nerds where there is a place for this kind of you know this kind of content
[00:30:49] unlike in the movies where everything doesn't have to be the Marvel blockbuster or some kind of
[00:30:54] remake where you're actually opening up an avenue for a full universe that can properly work with
[00:31:00] them leading into like Wolverine yeah man like that's what this game accomplished for sure period just
[00:31:08] the pacing of it wasn't bad like if you just shift away all the noise and just get into like a
[00:31:14] simple game from a three year old to an 80 year old it's easily somebody that could argue that
[00:31:20] it's their game of the year just off-the-shear fun factor alone and what it represents and I think
[00:31:25] the director I mean he's around our age yes a pretty good grasp on what he could do like I even
[00:31:30] like simple things as far as the director's choice in how they did the symbiates I mean it's a
[00:31:35] kids game but they still had some of that dark it's still represented like the side quest with
[00:31:41] carnage of the venom levels I think people will feel you know one more criticisms and they had
[00:31:47] more venom in it I think it would be hard to kind of you know discredited I think there they
[00:31:52] did fail as far as focusing on maybe Miles Morales a little bit more where or Mary Jane for example
[00:31:59] with her god awardness you know Wagner rock power in this game which is cool too you know I mean
[00:32:05] I thought it was kind of weird how they was looking at her you know like she was supposed to be
[00:32:08] hintile something like she didn't look that bad to me you know I'm talking about it whatever it didn't
[00:32:13] really it wasn't that deep but I do wish they would have had a few more scenes with venom or
[00:32:18] people ain't got to kind of crash crash their games you know what I'm saying as far as like trying
[00:32:22] to hack and replay the venom over a lot I loved loved loved craving it was ridiculous how much I
[00:32:30] enjoy yeah how they actually captured craving with the weird rush in this and everything in the game
[00:32:36] that movie trailer looked alright so it was it was and I hope they get it right you know
[00:32:41] to me yeah the weird stuff with the with the writer strike um I actually did enjoy the way that
[00:32:48] they did the storyline with like kind of introducing green goblin character and the acting along the
[00:32:55] voice acting was amazing graphics top-notch gameplay fun and just a simple game that didn't take
[00:33:01] me 120 hours to complete I don't feel played I look forward to DLC and I'm looking forward to Wolverine
[00:33:07] hopefully it's got to be goryer it's got to be bled to it you know but being at there in the same
[00:33:12] universe and the way they introduce the characters like I said with the co-op it clearly could be done
[00:33:18] because they have scenes where side characters pop in that are surprising and help you with the random
[00:33:23] battle and you know it's some straight excel C or shit so really to me I mean those that like
[00:33:30] bothers gave three and more of a spot them into are the only games that I'll personally accept
[00:33:35] you know being the game of the year yeah whatever wins I don't care it's not like I'm gonna get paid
[00:33:41] for it it's not like it's fucking fan-do or something yeah that's true but uh but it's also weird
[00:33:47] that some games have been snubbed and I know you have one game in particular and I've heard
[00:33:52] nothing but good things about this game that should have made the list that didn't make the list
[00:33:56] and I we kind of alluded to and talked to about it earlier this year with starfield comparisons
[00:34:02] and bothers gave three and I'll let in the industry but you know like what do you think it's missing
[00:34:09] so before we get to that the chat Aaron did say so you're telling me last of us two re-made
[00:34:15] can be in the game of the year debate and RE are RE force is so dumb to be in this category
[00:34:21] I agree like Resident Evil 4 is so dumb to be in this category but for me there's a couple of snubs
[00:34:28] really one of them I'm a die hard for because I've played the game twice through
[00:34:34] one of them I just started so the one that I just started actually there's three of them really
[00:34:39] that I'm thinking about the first one being Final Fantasy 16 we just started playing it it's
[00:34:45] incredible it's gorgeous the combat systems beautiful and from what I understand it just gets
[00:34:52] crazier and amped up as you go even more so than Final Fantasy 7 Revex just over the top in
[00:34:58] sane and it's not a turn based on but it looks great especially on the pn 5 just absolutely
[00:35:06] looks great I got it from my birthday and I just opened it up a couple weeks ago so my birthday is
[00:35:10] in March so that tells you exactly how many games the other one I think would probably be a long shot
[00:35:16] but dwarf fortress I've been playing a lot of dwarf fortress and that game's just incredibly fun
[00:35:22] and stupid and over the top and ridiculous and all sorts of ways and I had to I got eight hours
[00:35:28] into a map where I was building my little dwarf fortress and I had to completely scrapped it because
[00:35:33] I hit an underground water vein and flooded my whole cavern and killed all my cattle that were
[00:35:37] underground so love that game that's besides the point but the one that you're talking about
[00:35:43] the big one for me is lisa pe. Lisa pe, lisa pe, lisa pe got snubbed hard for game of the year
[00:35:54] it got snubbed hard this game not only came out and was an incredible soulsborne game in my personal
[00:36:02] opinion the best souls like game I've ever played next to something actually made by from software
[00:36:10] there were very few limited issues that were addressed immediately with a couple of patches
[00:36:16] the storylines incredible the mythos behind the games incredible they do a great job of
[00:36:24] in instituting almost secaro style combat with bloodborne style combat
[00:36:33] the boss designs are great the level designs are just some of my favorite level designs of the year
[00:36:38] and when I say that it takes a lot for games to completely suck me in to completely get my attention
[00:36:46] this game this came immediately got my attention and I couldn't stop playing we talked about
[00:36:54] it when I started playing this game I played it back to back I don't ever do that where I've
[00:37:00] eaten a game and then immediately restart that game and love it for every bit of
[00:37:07] insanity and beauty that that game was gorgeous art amazing music incredible story some of the best
[00:37:16] boss fights I've ever been in able to encounter some of the best world exploration for something that
[00:37:22] is a double a budget so we all know that and we've heard that right my question for you is why do
[00:37:29] you think it was an opinion your personal opinion because it's not made by from software
[00:37:36] is exactly it I want to argue I would argue that if lies of p was made by from software
[00:37:44] it would have been put as a nominee for game of the year see they could they could ignore
[00:37:50] armored core six from from software because you got to remember from software had a game come out
[00:37:56] aren't you plus six I've got it I haven't played because I've heard this another snow potentially
[00:38:00] like potential I've heard I've heard a potential snow but I understand why that one probably did
[00:38:06] make it and that is because armor core six is from software already makes niche difficult games
[00:38:14] and then you even go further into that niche with armor core six like armor core six is a
[00:38:21] mech game so that's already kind of a subgenre of a subgenre at that point but I do have it I haven't
[00:38:27] played it I do plan on playing it but if lies of p had been made by from software with whatever all
[00:38:35] they did I mean the humanity element the chimney crickets stuff the citizen stuff just incredible
[00:38:43] I think it would have been nominated for game of the year right right and see for me it's my number
[00:38:48] two game of the year well and that's a good point because like one game I got a reference because it's
[00:38:52] another game that I thoroughly enjoyed like I wish we had some gameplay for this one like we had
[00:38:56] like all it was like the Marvel two because a spider man but like Hogwarts legacy yeah normally I think
[00:39:03] like back in the you know G4 days it's no way that their game isn't in the nominee like you know
[00:39:11] announced in the conversation yeah just in the comments say I mean I guess because of the shit the
[00:39:17] controversy the controversy makes it weird but you know Berlin the P was pleased with that game
[00:39:23] like period we wanted most powerful ever cadaver people like it was fun it was just a fun fun game
[00:39:29] so you know like I don't know man what's we got to we had to get on here and do our annual thing
[00:39:37] you know the homie Andrew was asking for it and we've been wanting to get back on here and have
[00:39:41] a quick conversation the game of the year is fun because it's still a place to be you know
[00:39:46] like gratitude I think just for how many games are out that are amazing this year you know what I mean
[00:39:54] like I did not get for example stuck into the NBA 2k 24 normal cycle of everything right I was
[00:40:01] able to wait until the win-on sale which it went on sale early you know so I didn't even have
[00:40:07] to wait as long I'm already pretty competitive at it you know but I did have one thing like I could
[00:40:13] tell you pretty much sum up my whole experience with 2k like basically like this like you know
[00:40:29] I have a clip going for you just right now to some of these
[00:40:35] I can't wait to watch you play nightly and you're gonna play so good
[00:40:39] hey I want to hurt your team more boys keep it up and find out I'm only taking one of you I'm only

[00:42:30] so make a man out of your fucking pizza thing you don't even have a team yeah only the one with
[00:42:34] the banners and the rafters you fucking piss you're fooling you don't fuck we're falling yeah your
[00:42:39] mom's fooling too hurry hurry hurry we told you we're falling
[00:42:46] so tired do you think that explains or yeah man that sums it up man that's pretty much all I got
[00:42:52] on it man if you want to come check out the 2k stream I stream 2k from time to time from hangout
[00:42:58] just as this compensate with me you know what I mean maybe definitely give you a shout out on the show
[00:43:04] you know but yeah that's pretty much all I got for 2 NBA 2k 24 so far this year one thing I wanted
[00:43:09] to ask you about it see if you heard just a random shout outs was talking about games and stuff
[00:43:13] is what's this game have you heard of a game called lethal company yes yes yes yes I plan on buying
[00:43:20] it and playing it with Bob okay lethal company my dude is a co-op game in which you are tasked
[00:43:29] with your teammates to go in and collect items to hit a certain quota and as you're going through
[00:43:37] these different areas and different maps these monsters show up it's you know this is right
[00:43:43] up my alley sasmophobia kind of style with this sort of stuff that's going to be me 100% like okay and
[00:43:51] you know anything that can generate good co-op content and co-op fun is something I'm going to rock
[00:43:56] with and lethal company seems to be the next next vein that people have really kind of attached to
[00:44:03] um you know anytime marquee plier those guys latch on to something it blows up a little right
[00:44:10] right i'm not really sure if he did that's what cost fast mphobia blow up was marquee plier than
[00:44:15] those guys well I would love to be on the phasmophobia development team right now you know they got
[00:44:21] four then fools and that game is like they've made they've made millions and millions of dollars
[00:44:27] off that little game and it's still it's not it's still an access dollars one billion dollars
[00:44:35] now man but this i mean man that's pretty much all I got this week man with the quick catch up and
[00:44:40] I mean i mean you got anything else for the people's the lovely people's out there yeah um
[00:44:47] braggins dogma if you haven't played it they got the sequel coming out February of 2024
[00:44:53] first one still worth playing i mean i got i got i got pulled into that one last night while i was sitting
[00:44:59] watching youtube videos because this one of those were like you can run around it's still got one
[00:45:04] of the most interesting day and night cycles and combat systems i've ever seen um and i'm telling
[00:45:09] you man like that game still worth playing if you've never played it it's a great little fantasy
[00:45:14] it still feels uh you know i would say it feels a little old graphically but then you start playing
[00:45:20] the combat in that game honestly is like no other combat i've ever played they still have that very
[00:45:26] unique system that still stands out to this day um you know there's some quality of life stuff
[00:45:32] that i hope they add to the sequel and i thought they were gonna add multiplayer but they're not
[00:45:37] going to which i was like i kind of wish they would have um but they are adding i hope they're
[00:45:42] adding target locking because that drives me nuts i don't like not being able to lock on the
[00:45:46] turrets it is definitely free-flow in combat for sure where you gotta go in and just uh you know
[00:45:54] so last night i was playing a mission where we had to go still a grimoire from these group of bandits
[00:45:59] and i get in there i fight my way through wolves i fight my way through a couple packs of bandits
[00:46:04] and get in there and the bandit king is like sitting there and he's like i'm talking to him
[00:46:08] expecting a boss fight but i forgot dragon's dogma is a different breed of thing a different
[00:46:14] breed again so i walk up to him and i go hey where's the grimoire and he goes well i'm not going to
[00:46:18] give it to you we can fight for it if you want to but it doesn't give me an option so they just
[00:46:22] expect you to pull out your sword now i just snuck around i waited till they fell asleep then i
[00:46:27] walked up to the top of the tower stole the grimoire and left but that's that's what i love that
[00:46:32] game it's just so weird in strange um but that's really it man steam world dig if you like city
[00:46:38] builders that's a qt little fun city builder that's available on games fast right now
[00:46:43] we put about two hours into that um i'm gonna play it some more um but it's it's fun it's very
[00:46:50] it's very friendly and if you get kids who like to build um it's it's very intuitive um you know
[00:46:56] they make it real colorful and bright and easy to navigate and access and understand what you're
[00:47:01] trying to do um so i really like that one but that's it man that's all like a that's that's
[00:47:07] it that's weak so how do you got anything now man it's just i just think the game awards my suck
[00:47:12] this year hopefully the gta6 trailer will be good um definitely again start out to sct tribe

[00:47:56] supposed to be to meet up that's all i got pretty much that's it man until next time as we always
[00:48:02] do stay humble stay humble don't take no shit
[00:48:18] you
